Built as a summer home in 1926, overgrown yews that dated from the original gardens blocked the view from a south facing sunroom when I arrived on the property. There was no way to save them, so instead I designed a gracious brick staircase with planter walls that led to the lawn and gardens beyond.  Taking cues from architectural details a custom crossbuck style fence that also echoed the white farm fencing was incorporated into the design.  Plantings were kept simple and large planters were added for seasonal color.
